My name is Dirk, and I live in Zwolle, The Netherlands, with my wife and two daughters.

Professionally, I work as a Product Manager in medical technology. This role has given me deep insights into product development, marketing, and brand-management skills that shape my approach to innovation and strategy.

Outside of work, I find inspiration and clarity riding my motorcycle on weekends and holidays. These rides help clear my mind and spark new ideas that fuel my creative and technical passions.

This combination of professional expertise and personal inspiration led to the creation of ANYBAG
Sometimes, the only way to solve a common problem is to create your own solution.

We all love our rides and customizing them to reflect our style. But let’s be honest. Some bikes just aren’t made for a tankbag or top case.
Strapping something on works in a pinch, but for those quick rides or the classic "Can you grab me a carton of milk on your way home?" moments, we needed something better.
​
Since most gas tanks are metal, the solution had to be magnetic. It had to be simple, compact, and easy to pop on whenever needed.
​
After countless rounds of trial and error, ANYBAG was born.
The story

Trial and error
Now how do you fit a magnet into a small bag without the risk of scratching, rattling around inside of the bag and not being too 'aggressive' on the gas tank? ​
You take two. Two magnets enclosed inside a safe casing. First we sewed them inside a piece of leather. This turned out to be rather expensive and labor intensive.​ ​
With the help of my friend who has a professional career as an industrial product designer, we started sketching, designing in 3D and bought the first 3D printer. ​
Almost all materials turned out to be too brittle, fragile and too stiff. Luckily there's other materials such as TPU and TPE. Many versions passed the test but even for trial usage, too ugly and unrefined. ​
With the help of a resin printer, we were able to achieve results that were consistent and stable enough to start trial testing and eventually go to market.
